Invitation

IMG_5056.jpg

Silence invites me in the morning. Or is it stillness that blankets my heart? I hear the screech owl bidding goodnight to the dark. Distant traffic hums with early morning commuters. The barest hint of breeze shakes lingering raindrops from the leaves and the gutter slowly drips its remnant of midnight rains.

It is not silent where I sit but there is a stillness as I wait the dawn.
I am grateful for these moments of invitation. Time to hoist the weight of concerns from my heart; to embrace loved ones in distant connection; to remember the innocence that unites humanity beneath the life we heap upon it. In the stillness I remember who I am and the Love I am called to be…before I move into my day. And when I fail to recognize what is mine to do today, the sun will rise again on another opportunity.

I am grateful for the rhythm of day and night. Not to take any one day for granted but to experience being present to the moment and its invitation.

The wren is singing her waking song ~ it’s time to go. May I carry this still awareness as I move into the day.

thank you for taking this moment to be,
in this together….
